Tourism Growth in Iberia
"A positive cycle of tourism growth continues. In 2012 visitors spent $44.3 million in Iberia Parish and contributed $2 million and $800,000, respectively, to state and local coffers," said Fran Thibodeaux, executive director of Iberia Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"For example," she continued, "the new Avery Island experience is coming soon! Visitors can currently sample the best Cajun dishes on a TABASCO® Food Tour and soon, the TABASCO® Factory will have an expanded tour, new visitor center and Creole-cottage cafeteria-style restaurant. Jungle Gardens will also be making its trek more interactive. These expansions are what helps tourism grow for our communities."

The first full week of May is annually recognized as National Travel and Tourism Week, a tradition first celebrated in 1984, and established by a congressional joint resolution passed in 1983. Each year, localized events are presented in cities, states and travel businesses nationwide to champion the power of travel, and generate tremendous exposure for all the good that travel inspires.
