Iberia Parish (county) is the hottest spot in Acadiana, a region famous for its Cajun and Creole influences. There's not a native who won't point you the way you want to go, but be prepared, you'll also wind up with directions to the best food in town! There's nobody too busy to stop for a chat. We're as proud of our legendary hospitality, as we are of our heritage. Over a bowl of hot gumbo, we’ll tell you about the hot spots of Iberia.

The parish seat, New Iberia, known as the "Queen City of the Teche" is located at the intersection of Hwy 90 East and Hwy 14, just 20 miles south of Lafayette. Charming towns nestled along the bayou include Jeanerette, Loreauville, Delcambre and Avery Island. The Gulf of Mexico and the Atchafalaya Basin, part of America’s Wetlands and the largest river swamp in ht United States, are both central to the ecology of the area. Fascinating cultural traditions of the area are prevalent along Hwy 90 East or the Old Spanish Trial, following the Cajun Coast to the Big Easy, New Orleans, only 2.5 hours from Iberia
