Restaurant serving BBQ meats, soups, & seafood
Mark A. Boudreaux, the owner of Shashlik Grill, pronounced “shash-lick,” announced the opening of his restaurant located in downtown New Iberia at 241 W. Main St. The restaurant serves barbeque meats such as brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and chicken in the form of sandwiches or lunch plates with three side dishes.
Additionally, the menu offers daily award winning soups such as chicken tortilla, chicken spinach tasso, corn and crab bisque and gumbos. Each soup is prepared on a specific day of the week they are open.
Rounding out the menu are the fantastic desserts: White Chocolate Bread Pudding, Pecan Pralines, Chocolate Toffee, Bavarian Cream Fruit Parfaits, and on some days Lava Cake with ice cream.
The restaurant offers counter service with seating for 40 patrons in a comfortable, clean and relaxed atmosphere. Many customers have already experienced their tasty foods and positive feedback and quotes can be seen on their Facebook page or on Yelp.
The name Shashlik is the Russian word for a style of barbeque prepared there.
The restaurant officially opened on April 1, 2019. The owner and chef, Mark Boudreaux, is a lifelong resident of New Iberia. He retired from working in the oilfield after 30 years and decided to open his own business. Having cooked in numerous cooking contests over the years and winning many awards, he felt he could be successful in the restaurant business.
Mark’s wife, Svitlana, is from Ukraine which is Russian descent, hence the name of the restaurant. She also works in the restaurant as cashier and dessert cook.
