2019 Iberia African American Historical Society Journal
The history of African Americans in Iberia Parish (formerly part of the Attakapas district) dates back to the 18th century. Lives changed overnight and we’re still not sure how life will look post pandemic. Milestones such as weddings and graduations were postponed or cancelled, and home became our sanctuary.  The pace of life slowed down allowing time for families to reconnect. More people had time to relax, reset and rediscover hobbies they loved that they never made time for.

Dave's Haunts & Jaunts Bus Tour
Making an anticipated return, the "Dave's Haunts & Jaunts" bus tour departs once more this year to traverse the New Iberia of James Lee Burke's famed novels. For those Robicheaux lovers who really want to see the area through Dave's eyes, the Books Along the Teche Literary Festival (April 3-5) is offering a guided tour to some of the real-life versions of key places in the detective's world.

1944 Expulsion of Iberia Parish’s Black Leaders

Remembering 30 Years of Gumbo History
The World Championship Gumbo Cookoff is embarking on its 30th year in New Iberia, and we’ve been hard at work perfecting the recipe for the perfect event in the south.
