Get ready to travel to Magic on Main with a myriad of holiday events for the whole family during November and December.
We'll end the month with Sounds of the Season (Nov. 30) a free Christmas concert by the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, which will go virtual this year.
Come December, Iberia Parish has a multitude of events planned to make this holiday season memorable. Loreauville's Christmas in the Village (Dec. 5) kicks off the season along with the World Championship Gumbo Cookoff's virtual event with Chef Amy Sims.
Get some holiday shopping done at Shadows-on-the-Teche's Holiday Christmas Market (Dec. 12). There will be vendors with diverse hand-made items from fine art to food and furniture. A special tour is included in the fee. Raffle tickets will be sold to win items donated by the vendors. This year, the event has been modified to ensure a safe experience for visitors, vendors, and workers. The Shadows is encouraging visitors to wear masks while onsite and when social distancing is not possible. Shadows Staff and volunteers will be required to wear masks during the event. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available for visitors to use.
Explore what the holiday season meant to both the Weeks family and those enslaved on the family's plantations at Shadows Holiday Harvest Home and Garden Tour (Nov. 27 - Dec. 31). Travel to the Victorian Era when you tour the Joseph Jefferson Home decorated for the holidays at Jefferson Island Rip Van Winkle Gardens (Nov. 30 - Dec. 31).
Have a cuppa at one of A Spot for Tea's tastings (or give tickets to the foodies in your life): Christmas Tea Tasting (Dec. 5), Christmas/New Year Sparkling Wine and Cheese Tasting (Dec.15), or the Christmas Beer Tasting (Dec. 17). The Iberia Performing Arts League will perform "The Death & Life of Larry Benson" (Dec. 6-13).
With two Christmas parades happening around Iberia Parish, the kiddos will have ample opportunities to see the jolly man.
The town of Delcambre will present the Delcambre Main Street Christmas Parade on Dec. 6. Santa will then follow the magical elf trail to the Downtown New Iberia Christmas Parade on Dec. 12. The Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree will be at 5:30 p.m. in front of the New Iberia City Hall, followed by the parade at 6 p.m. There will be Christmas floats, visiting royalty, dance schools and school band performances along with plenty of Christmas throws.
On the morning of the New Iberia parade, Bayou Traditions in partnership with New Iberia McDonald's will present Pancakes & PJs with Santa (Dec. 12). Bring your own blanket and enjoy your hot pancakes and sausage provided by New Iberia McDonald's. There will be holiday face painting and story time with Mrs. Claus. Select holiday vendors will also be on-site for great gift ideas.
With all these exciting events, the holidays are a wonderful time to visit the South’s merriest North Pole, Iberia Parish.
