Get ready to travel to Magic on Main: Destination North Pole with a myriad of holiday events for the whole family during November and December.
One sure to be popular event is the premiere downtown of the Lifetime movie "Christmas in Louisiana, which was filmed in Iberia Parish (Nov.14). Grab a blanket and chair and head over to Bouligny Plaza to watch the premiere of the movie two days before the official release of the movie on Lifetime Channel on Nov. 16.
We'll end the month with the Iberia Parish Library's T.HanksGiving Movie Night (Nov. 26), Isle of Iberia’s Let It Sneaux Holiday Festival (Nov. 30), and Loreauville's Christmas in the Village (Nov. 30).
Come December, Iberia Parish has a multitude of events planned to make this holiday season memorable. Sounds of the Season (Dec. 1), a free Christmas concert by the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, will kick things off.
Travel to the Victorian Era when you tour the Joseph Jefferson Home decorated for the holidays at Jefferson Island Rip Van Winkle Gardens (Dec. 1-31). Shadows-on-the-Teche will be celebrating in a similar fashion with "merry making" tours. The home will be decorated all month long in 19th century holiday style and tours will focus on family celebrations of the time. You can find those last few Christmas presents at the Shadows Holiday Market (Dec. 7). Shadows will also host A Shadows Christmas (Dec. 19). Party go-ers can enjoy old-fashion peppermint sticks, gingerbread, and other holiday fare while strolling through the gardens with a glass of apple cider or syllabub in hand. Admission includes drinks and food. Tickets are limited and advance purchase is highly recommended.
The Iberia Performing Arts League will perform the Christmas classic "Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus" (Dec. 6-15).
Get in the Christmas spirit at the library with interactive storytelling and Winter Wonderland (Dec. 7), Potluck Dinner & a Movie (Dec. 18), Holiday Paint Night (Dec. 18), Merry Movies Night (Dec. 19) and Happy "Noon" Year (Dec. 30).
With an abundance of Christmas parades happening around Iberia Parish, the kiddos will have ample opportunities to see the jolly man. Santa Claus makes his first sightings on Dec. 7 during the Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market at Bayou Carlin Cove.
The New Iberia Downtown Business Association will present the New Iberia Christmas Parade on Dec. 7. Families can enjoy holiday events throughout the day, including a Christmas themed breakfast at Pancakes & PJs with Santa and the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce's Very Berry Christmas Quest.
With all these exciting events, the holidays are a wonderful time to visit the South’s merriest North Pole, Iberia Parish.
