Ranch Sorting is an event that pits a team of two riders on horseback against the clock. Teamwork is the key with both riders working in harmony to cut out the correct cattle and drive them to the pen while keeping the wrong numbered cattle back.

There will be someone showing the participants step by step how to decorate their themed cakes, but they can't receive help from anyone else. All supplies needed will be provided for the participants. Weather permitting, complementary sausage poboy's will be served. Bottles of water will also be available. A tent will be set up outside for family members while their child competes inside. Lawn chairs are allowed. Door prizes will be given. Participants need to be between age 12 - 15. All skill levels eligible. 14 kids will compete, registration and prepayment is required.

The coast of Louisiana is home to a unique way of life however communities are at risk as alarming losses are being suffered as the coast disappears. Professor Brian Marks will discuss issues brought up by the book, Bayou Farewell by Mike Tidwell. This program is part of the local Water/Ways Smithsonian exhibit project as a partnership between the Jeanerette Museum Board and Iberia Parish Library.
