Dear Delcambre,

365 days. 10,154 miles traveled. Thousands of pictures. Memories to last a life time!

One year ago I was crowned as the 66th Delcambre Shrimp Queen. At that moment I knew what people meant when they said “dreams do come true.” As tears rolled down my face I knew that I finally did it!

For 22 years I attended a festival that has become our family tradition. I remember looking up to the big shrimp queen and telling my daddy I wanted to be just like her one day. I now look back marveled that I had the honor of being the big shrimp queen that I always dreamed of becoming.

Not only was I able to capture a dream of mine, but I was able to travel the state of Louisiana to educate people about the shrimping industry.  From the waters of Bayou Carlin you can smell the shrimp, or like I call them “the treasures of Bayou Carlin,” from a mile away.  One taste of this savory crustacean will have you caught in a shrimp frenzy and wanting to come back for more!

Growing up near the docks, my family would purchase shrimp fresh off of the boat.  We would all gather around to bag the hundreds of pounds of shrimp and of course fry some for dinner. This little town has so much to offer from the annual Delcambre Shrimp Festival, to the Farmers Markets, and of course the bountiful blessings of Bayou Carlin!

I am proud to say that I am from Delcambre!

Welcome to Delcambre and y’all come back sha!

Shrimply Yours,
Courtney Marie LeBlanc
